OPIS Security Warning Help |
| Problem: | I am getting a "Certificate Error" whenever I try to access OPIS. |
| Solution: |
To keep your personal information safe we encrypt the data that you recieve and transmit while using OPIS. Since we use a self-signed certificate to perform this encryption, you may see a "security warning" when trying to access OPIS depending on the browser you use. To utilize this encryption you will have to either:
Or |
Below is a set of directions to install our certificate on the following browsers: |
Internet Explorer 7 Internet Explorer 6 (and older) Netscape / Firefox / Mozilla |
Internet Explorer 7: Because of our self-signed certificate, Internet Explorer 7 blocks direct navigation to OPIS. Follow these steps to prevent the warning from appearing: Internet Explorer 6 (and older) When the pop-up "Security Alert" box appears, click either "Yes" to proceed or "View Certificate" then "Install Certificate" to install the certificate on your computer. If you have chosen to install the certificate, a "Certificate Import Wizard" will appear. Click "Next" through the Import Wizard screens, then "Finish" and "Yes" to add the certificate. This will install the certificate on your computer and you will no longer receive the security warning. Netscape / Firefox / Mozilla When the pop-up "Website Certified by an Unknown Authority" box appears, select either "Accept this certificate temporarily for this session" or "Accept this certificate permanently" and then click "OK". Choosing to accept the certificate permanently will install the certificate on your computer and you will no longer receive the security warning. |
